Quality Assurance

BERLUKAS' Quality Assurance System is built into our proven work process. For an overall view of this process, please refer to the "Methods" page.

More specifically, quality is based on seven principles that apply to all successful translation businesses, namely:
  1. We never quote opportunities without examining all the documents to be translated.
  2. We never accept contracts outside our domains of expertise.
  3. We never commit to terms or conditions we are not sure to meet.
  4. Our translators always translate into their native language.
  5. Our translators must live in the country where the target language is spoken.
  6. Our translators must master the translation subject and their translations must be easily understood by the targeted readers.
  7. All translation must be proofread and corrected by a senior linguist complying with points 4 to 6 above.
Finally, translation quality also rests on five specific process steps:
  1. Each translator is given a set of detailed instructions before being assigned to a translation job.
  2. All errors found in the source document or unresolved terminology issues are checked with the client and a job-specific glossary is built.
  3. Each translated segment is proofread by the translator before storage in the Translation Memory.
  4. The whole translated document is then proofread by the translator.
  5. The whole document is proofread a second time by a senior translator.
Additionally, the last two steps of the above process each include MS Word spell-checking for orthography and grammar of the target language.

At BERLUKAS, these “golden rules” are the result of years of experience. They ensure that the meaning of the source document is accurately translated and that the target document, while sounding as if originally written in the target language, is exempt of errors as much as humanly possible.
